Debit Card, Credit Card Auto Payment to Fail from Today If you Don’t Follow New Rule

To assure the security of transactions, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) mandated a new rule for the automobile-debiting facility of banking transactions that had been established to just take outcome from Oct 1, Friday. The new RBI mandate indicated that there was to be no extra automatics recurring payments for the numerous solutions that are linked with it, this kind of as utility payments, recharge of cellular phone, DTH and OTT payments. This is since starting off from nowadays, the apex bank’s directive mentioned that there needs to be an additional variable of authentication (AFA) in advance of any transaction can be presented the go-in advance.

This fundamentally signifies that with out the customer’s seal of approval, no cash can or will be deducted from the lender account on the foundation of an automated debit payment. The RBI reported that the cause for the introduction of AFA is to carry forth additional layers of security to any transactional approach. The apex bank’s principal objective, in this case, is to secure lender shoppers from fraudulent transactions although concurrently also improving customers’ advantage.

The deadline has been moved up quite a few instances to day. The motive powering it is that a lot of of the significant financial institutions these as HDFC Bank, ICICI Banking companies and the Point out Financial institution of India (SBI) had not complied with the issued mandate, which compelled the RBI to increase the deadline by 6 months.

Talking on the similar, the RBI said in a circular, “The framework has not been thoroughly executed even right after the prolonged timeline. This non-compliance is observed with significant worry and will be dealt with individually. The hold off in implementation by some stakeholders has presented increase to a situation of doable large-scale customer inconvenience and default. To reduce any inconvenience to the prospects, Reserve Financial institution has resolved to extend the timeline for the stakeholders to migrate to the framework by six months, i.e., till September 30, 2021.”

Acquiring stated that, right here are five things that you ought to know about this new rule heading forward into the calendar thirty day period of Oct.

1) Progress Alerts

As for each the new norms of the RBI mandate, your respective financial institution with which you have your transactional accounts will have to mail you data or an alert regarding the recurring payment dues, 24 hrs in progress. It is sent in progress so as to give the client time to accept and confirm the payment, due to the fact, without the need of that acceptance from the account holder, the lender will not finalise the transaction. This added layer of safety makes sure that the purchaser is involved in every and each and every transaction that sees money move out of their accounts.

2) One-Time Registration

Now, while it may well sound like a laborous system, it actually is not. Consumers will need only go as a result of the process of registration at the time under this new mandate and it is only the initial transaction that needs the added factor of authentication. After the very first time, consumers can carry out other future transactions without having the AFA. In reality, while registering, buyers can offer the validity period of time for long run transactions.

3) OTP Payments Exceeding Rs 5,000

If the recurring payment is higher than the restrict of Rs 5,000, then according to the RBI mandate, the financial institution in query is needed to deliver the consumer a 1-time password (OTP), just before the transaction is processed.

4) It Is Optional

For the sake of convenience, buyers of any financial institution can select to choose-out of the mandate or any specific transaction at any place in time. This can be completed through the use of the pre-debit notification which has a backlink that will acquire you to a portal where it can be carried out step-by-step. Maintain in head that at the close of the day this mandate was released to secure your financial institution account and the money therein.

5) No Impacts on Car-Debits

Any standing guidelines that were registered for employing present financial institution accounts for mutual funds, SIPs or equated monthly instalments for loans would not be impacted by these new principles and adjustments.

What channel is Notre Dame vs. Cincinnati on today? Time, TV schedule for Week 5 college football game

The Bearcats are traveling to South Bend, Indiana to face the only ranked opponent on their schedule this season.

The Fighting Irish will host Cincinnati on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET in what will likely be one of their most competitive matchups this season. The Bearcats will attempt to put an end to the Notre Dame 26-game win streak at home.

After suffering a leg injury during Notre Dame’s 41-13 win, Jack Coan is slated to start for Notre Dame. Coach Brian Kelly confirmed that he likely suffered a soft tissue injury in the third quarter of the matchup. He took a massive hit and was sacked five times before he left the field for the locker room.

Coan completed 77 of 127 passes for 986 yards with nine touchdowns and two interceptions through his first four games at Notre Dame. As he is continuing to build his momentum with the Fighting Irish, Coan is facing some issues with the offensive line. During Notre Dame’s 39-32 win against Toledo, starting left tackle Michael Carmody left the field with a sprained ankle. Suffering his absence for two games, the Fighting Irish offensive line has allowed the second-most total of 21 sacks in the FBS.

While Jack Coan and his offense appear solid, they will be tested by the Cincinnati defense, which is ranked 27th overall. The Bearcats’ defense allowed 298.7 yards per game and six touchdowns through their first three matchups. Linebacker Darrian Beavers leads the defense in sacks with 1.5 and totals 21 total tackles, followed by cornerback Arquon Busch who totals one sack and 10 tackles.

Quarterback Desmond Ridder is also expected to make strides for the Bearcats. He completed 54 of 83 passes for 748 yards and totaled seven touchdowns with two interceptions through three games. Ridder will likely continue to utilize wide receiver Tyler Scott and Michael Young Jr., who combine for 282 total receiving yards. Young will have the opportunity to reunite with his former teammates for the first time since he graduated from Notre Dame in 2020 and entered the transfer portal.

College football picks, schedule: Predictions against the spread, odds for top 25 games today in Week 5

Though this is only the fifth week of the 2021 college football season, plenty will be decided Saturday with multiple top-25 matchups on the slate and plenty of other ranked teams in action against tough opponents. Four straight weeks of unpredictable finishes and upsets have set the stage for what should be a wild remaining two thirds of the season.

There are four games between ranked opponents Saturday with with No. 8 Arkansas visiting No. 2 Georgia, No. 7 Cincinnati taking on No. 9 Notre Dame as a road favorite, Lane Kiffin’s No. 12 Ole Miss facing former boss Nick Saban’s No. 1 Alabama in the SEC on CBS Game of the Week, and undefeated Big 12 programs meeting when No. 21 Baylor travels to No. 19 Oklahoma State. In total, 23 ranked teams will be in action Saturday with the other two — No. 5 Iowa and No. 13 BYU — facing frequent opponents Friday night.

While winning is all that matters for the standings, we care about whether these teams will cover their spreads. Be sure to stick with CBS Sports throughout the day for college football coverage from the opening kickoff on Saturday to the final whistle. Let’s take a look at our expert picks for the fifth full Saturday of the season.

Odds via Caesars Sportsbook | All times Eastern

No. 8 Arkansas at No. 2 Georgia

Latest Odds:

Georgia Bulldogs
-16.5

Noon | ESPN, fuboTV (Try for free) — This massive spread seems like an overreaction to Georgia’s recent explosive offensive outings against overmatched foes. Don’t forget this team failed to score an offensive touchdown against Clemson in Week 1. Arkansas has proven its superiority against two quality opponents already this season, and those wins over Texas and Texas A&M will give it more than enough confidence to go Between the Hedges and give the Bulldogs a close fight. Prediction: Arkansas (+18.5) — David Cobb

No. 14 Michigan at Wisconsin

Latest Odds:

Wisconsin Badgers
-2

Noon | Fox, fuboTV (Try for free) — Given what I’ve written already, you’ve probably figured out which direction I’m heading. I know it’s been a while since Michigan has won in Madison, Wisconsin, and this will be the toughest test the Wolverines have faced so far (it’s their first road game), but I can’t trust Wisconsin. The Badgers offense has played too poorly, and this Michigan defense has been just as strong — if not better — as the Penn State and Notre Dame defenses that have suffocated it already this season. The Wisconsin defense will keep it close, but I do not see them winning this game unless the Badgers score on defense or special teams. Prediction: Michigan (+1) — Tom Fornelli

No. 7 Cincinnati at No. 9 Notre Dame

Latest Odds:

Cincinnati Bearcats
-2

2:30 p.m. | NBC, fuboTV (Try for free) — There’s just something startling about seeing Cincinnati favored at Notre Dame. The Bearcats are worthy favorites based on all the talent accumulated and the high standard set by coach Luke Fickell, but I’ll take the team that’s rolling right now. The Fighting Irish seem to come up with winning plays in close games every week, so if I think it’s going to be a close game, I’ll take the home dog that’s hot. Prediction: Notre Dame (+2) — Chip Patterson

No. 12 Ole Miss at No. 1 Alabama

Latest Odds:

Alabama Crimson Tide
-14.5

3:30 p.m. | CBS, CBSSports.comCBS Sports App — This 79.5 over/under in this game is the highest in an FBS game in four seasons, which suggests that both teams will have plenty of success moving up and down the field. That will play right into Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin’s hands. Ole Miss will use tempo, quarterback Matt Corral will have a banner day through the air and on the ground, and this game will be in doubt deep into the fourth quarter. In the end, Crimson Tide QB Bryce Young will make a couple of plays late to win an instant classic in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Bama will win but won’t cover. Prediction: Ole Miss (+14.5) — Barrett Sallee

Indiana at No. 4 Penn State

Latest Odds:

Penn State Nittany Lions
-12.5

7:30 p.m. | ABC, fuboTV (Try for free) — Last season, the Hoosiers took advantage of turnovers en route to their best season in a long time. Their points off turnovers margin of +41 ranked in a tie for 10th nationally with Ohio State, but keep in mind the Hoosiers played in only eight games. This season, Indiana ranks 95th nationally with a points off turnovers margin of -7. If Indiana can take care of the football, it can hang with the Nittany Lions. Unfortunately, nothing I’ve seen from the Hoosiers has me confident they’ll be able to do that. Indiana keeps it close into the early third quarter, but Penn State puts the game away after that. Prediction: Indiana (-10.5) — Tom Fornelli

No. 22 Auburn at LSU

Latest Odds:

LSU Tigers
-3

9 p.m. | ESPN, fuboTV (Try for free) — I’ll take LSU to win and cover due in large part to Auburn’s recent defensive struggles. The Tigers from The Plains are giving up 6.5 yards per play, and the secondary will have a tough time stopping LSU QB Max Johnson and star wide receiver Kayshon Boutte. Don’t get me wrong, this won’t be a blowout — far from it — but Johnson will make a play or two late to get out of there with a win. Prediction: LSU (-3.5) — Barrett Sallee

College football schedule today: TV channels, start times for every Week 5 top 25 game

The stakes have never been higher in the 2021 college football season than in Week 5, which features four games between undefeated, ranked opponents on Saturday.

The biggest game, rankings wise, is the top-10 SEC showdown between No. 2 Georgia and visiting, No. 8 Arkansas. The Bulldogs can make a compelling argument as the best team in the country, but Sam Pittman is leading a renaissance at Arkansas no one expected this early into his tenure. Both have impressive top-10 wins this season (the Bulldogs over No. 3 Clemson and Razorbacks over No. 7 Texas A&M), and the winner will have another after this cross-division meeting.

MORE: Watch select NCAA football games live with fuboTV (7-day trial)

Another top-10 matchup to watch: No. 7 Cincinnati at No. 9 Notre Dame. With the Fighting Irish’s dominant win over No. 18 Wisconsin — the team’s best win of the season thus far — Brian Kelly became Notre Dame’s winningest coach of all time. Will the team have a hangover against the Bearcats? Luke Fickell’s squad is still looking for respect as a potential Group of 5 buster. A win over one of college football’s premier blue bloods — one that has made the College Football Playoff twice — should look very good on Cincy’s Playoff resume.

Another intriguing matchup: No. 12 Ole Miss at top-ranked Alabama in Tuscaloosa, a year after the Crimson Tide outlasted the Rebels 63-48 in a sloppy, defense-optional shootout in Oxford. Alabama has looked human through four games this season, struggling mightily in a road victory over No. 11 Florida. Lane Kiffin’s offense, meanwhile, leads the nation in yards per game (635.3) and points per game (52.7). This battle could also be an early battle for Heisman Trophy supremacy between Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral (68.8 completion percentage, 997 yards, nine touchdowns) and Alabama signal-caller Bryce Young (72.1 completion percentage, 1,214 yards, 15 touchdowns). Did we mention the nation’s top recruit, Arch Manning, will be in attendance?

Undefeated Big 12 teams in No. 21 Baylor and No. 19 Oklahoma State round out the top-25 action, facing off in Stillwater at 7 p.m. But don’t look over the Friday night matchup between No. 5 Iowa and undefeated Maryland, led by quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa.

It’s almost too much action to keep up with — luckily, Sporting News has you covered on how to watch every game involving a top-25 game for Week 5:

COVID-19 lockdowns ‘deepened social inequality’

  • Lockdown measures resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic have changed people’s lives.
  • Different social groups felt these changes disproportionately.
  • Future research is necessary to determine if, how, and why these social inequalities continue to persist.

The United Kingdom officially announced its first lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic on March 23, 2020. Two more national lockdowns occurred in the months that followed, Home Decoration.

The lockdowns resulted in unprecedented changes to people’s lives, but not all these changes ended when the lockdowns were over.

A recent study, which appears in the open-access journal PLOS ONE, explores the longer-term impacts of COVID-19 on various dimensions of different social groups.

Stay informed with live updates on the current COVID-19 outbreak and visit our coronavirus hub for more advice on prevention and treatment.

Researchers at the University of Oxford, U.K., used data from the first eight waves of the U.K. Household Longitudinal Survey on COVID-19 — from March 2020 to March 2021. They also used data from the main survey of two waves before the pandemic — from 2017 to 2019.

The panel survey covers a representative sample of 51,000 adults from approximately 40,000 households. The researchers reached out to individuals aged 20–65 years who participated in the main study to ask them to join the COVID-19 supplementary study. This required monthly online reporting from April 2020. In May 2020, the researchers added the option to report by telephone.

In total, nearly 16,000 individuals responded, representing a 42{cfdf3f5372635aeb15fd3e2aecc7cb5d7150695e02bd72e0a44f1581164ad809} response rate.

The authors reviewed the impact of COVID-19 and COVID-19-induced measures as the surveyed population reported.

The researchers were especially interested in how income, their use of time, and their well-being changed throughout different stages of the pandemic. In addition, they wanted to determine if these factors varied based on the sex, ethnicity, and education level of those surveyed.

Many of the measures officials implemented to contain the spread of COVID-19 involved reducing physical contact between people. As a result, the first wave of lockdowns impacted global social behavior immediately.

For example, business closures and remote work altered working patterns. Countries that introduced lockdown measures, such as the U.K., Australia, and the United States, immediately recorded reductions in work earnings.

Studies conducted following the first U.K. lockdown indicated that women and parents experienced a more negative influence on their subjective well-being than that of other social groups. Black, Asian, and minority ethnic immigrants were also more likely to have experienced economic hardship.

“So often, we focus just on cases and hospitalization, ICU usage, and mortality numbers, but it’s important to also look at the social impacts,” said Richard M. Carpiano, Ph.D., in an interview with Medical News Today.

Carpiano is a public and population health scientist and a medical sociologist. “A pandemic is very much a sociological phenomenon as much as it is the spread of a virus.”

As more lockdowns occurred, people’s health and overall feeling of well-being changed, not only because of the possibility or actuality of contracting SARS-CoV-2 but also because of related worry and stress.

The study showed that at the start of the pandemic, individuals who worked experienced a reduction in average earnings and the hours they worked per week. In addition, there was an increase in distress levels.

Data indicates that the mental health of most U.K. adults returned to pre-pandemic levels after the first lockdown, but that was not true for everyone.

Another study that appears in The Lancet supports this observation. It showed that 1 in 9 people did not experience an improvement in their mental health once the first lockdown lifted.

These lingering lockdown effects differed across the sexes, ethnicities, and between degree and nondegree holders. For example, during the first lockdown, the decline in pay was smaller for female than for male workers, possibly because of a higher proportion of women working in key sectors. Later, however, paid work time for men recovered faster than that for women.

Initially, the subjective well-being experienced by women suffered more than that of men. Then, as women’s subjective well-being began to recover, men’s distress levels began to rise.

Regarding earnings, Black, Asian, and marginalized ethnic people were more negatively affected than white individuals. This earnings gap persisted after easing lockdown restrictions.

The researchers conclude that the long-lasting pandemic and related restrictions have produced persistent negative consequences for earnings, work patterns, and subjective well-being.

Author Muzhi Zhou spoke with MNT about the study:

“Some changes in social inequality seem to disappear once lockdown measures are lifted, while other changes remain persistent throughout the whole year. It is worrying to see that the deepened social inequality could be long term for certain social groups.”

The study concludes by noting, “The negative impacts of the spread of COVID-19 and its related measures vary not only in their extent but also in their speed among different social groups.”

The authors suggest further research to understand the factors that have driven and exacerbated these social inequalities. To stress their point, they quote poet Damian Barr: “We are in the same storm, but we are not all in the same boat.”
