1. Bold, monochromatic suits at Cynthia Rowley, Gabriela Hearst
Matching sets have been on trend for the last few seasons, but this fall, designers turned to monochromatic suiting to make bold statements out of traditional styles. Instead of a traditional NYFW runway presentation, Cynthia Rowley opted to host a comedy show featuring the talents of stars like Ego Nwodim, Nikki Glaser and Esther Ku, entertaining audiences in monochromatic looks that took our breath away. At Gabriela Hearst, a lemon-yellow men’s suit was a brilliant, striking contrast to the neutrals that were shown elsewhere.
Want to hop on the trend ahead of next fall? Get the look with Bardot’s Parisienne Blazer. Available in a trendy Barbiecore-friendly shade of pink, in women’s sizes 2 to 8, this double-breasted suit is modern, bold and vibrant. Don’t forget to snag the matching Therese Buckle Pant to complete the look.
2. Clever sequins and metallic fabrics at Badgley Mischka, Pamella Roland
There’s something to be said about a subtle, carefully-selected bit of bling to add visual interest and glamour to a simple look. But this fall, you’ll want to fully commit to the aesthetic and go all out in full-fledged glittering drama. Sequin-encrusted marvels and metallic textiles sparkled down the NYFW runways at Badgley Mischka and Pamella Roland, reminding us that sometimes, more is more.

3. Playful novelty bags at Kate Spade
Kate Spade has long been the gold standard when it comes to playful bags, and this NYFW, we saw that they have no plans to change any time soon. From bags in unique shapes, to bold colors to unexpected materials, we love Kate Spade for its well-made bags that are chock full of personality. You can hold out for the fall colorways that the brand showed this week, or skip the wait and shop the Bijou Metallic Colorblocked Mini Top-handle Bag. 4. Feathers and furs at Naeem Khan, Brandon Maxwell
One of the easiest ways to elevate an everyday outfit is to add some texture in unexpected ways. Nothing could be more unexpected than the purple feathered confection that Indian-American couturier Naeem Khan sent down the runway this week. Feathers don’t just add texture, they also add movement and lightness to any look. Whether you’re floating along in a feathered look, or opting for a cozier take like the teddy bear coat we saw at Brandon Maxwell, there’s no better time to texturize your look.
J.Crew has been offering feathered clothing and accessories since last fall, from airy purses to house robes and everything in between. 5. Reimagined classics at Michael Kors, Thom Browne
Whether it’s Michael Kors‘ brilliant take on American closet staples or Thom Browne‘s groundbreaking and artful creations, NYFW was dominated by modern twists on classic wardrobe essentials. From tasteful plaids sculpted into gender-bending styles, to finely tailored dress shirts, wool dresses and elegant capes—the easiest way to add some pizzazz to your looks is to wear a new version of a traditional style.
When it comes to modern-with-a-twist, we’re big fans of The Row. The Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen founded brand has led the way in updating classics in the finest materials, updated silhouettes and exquisite quality. Take, for example, the Ludo Oversize Turtleneck Sweater. When is New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2023?
New York Fashion Week (NYFW) is held every year in New York City in February for the fall and winter collections, and in September to reveal the spring and summer collections. This year, the New York Fashion Week shows for the fall and winter seasons took place from Friday, February 10 to Wednesday, February 15, with runway shows from Christian Siriano and Victor De Souza held before the official kickoff, on the evening of Thursday, February 9.
What is New York Fashion Week?
Held twice a year, New York Fashion Week is deemed the official opportunity for American designers to unveil their sartorial creations in front of editors, celebrities and clients. Fashion weeks are also held in London, Paris and Milan.
Where is New York Fashion Week held?
Currently, the shows call Spring Studios their home base. In the past, they were held at New York City landmarks, such as Lincoln Center from 2010 to 2015 and in the white tents at Bryant Park from 1993 to 2009.
What is the New York Fashion Week schedule?
The start of the Council of Fashion Designer’s of America (CFDA) Calendar for the fall/winter season began with the Rodarte show on Friday, February 10. This season will wrap up with a runway show from Luar, who was named the CFDA 2022 accessory designer of the year, on Wednesday, February 15. In between the week’s start and end, designers such as Proenza Schouler, Tory Burch, Coach and Gabriela Hearst will also present.
