The shorthanded 76ers have managed to do their best against a Heat team that clearly has more firepower than them through the first two games.
The 76ers again were without Joel Embiid in Game 2 as the MVP candidate had been ruled out for the first two games of the series with an orbital fracture and concussion. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Embiid was set to be re-evaluated on Wednesday with the expectation that he should be available when the series returns to Philadelphia for Games 3 and 4.
They will need whatever they can get out of “Masked Embiid” in Game 3 if they are to have any chance of avoiding a sweep in this series.
The Heat were also missing a key player in veteran guard Kyle Lowry, who has been sidelined for both games with a hamstring injury.
Even without Lowry, Miami was able to prevail as they got contributions right across the board, led by Jimmy Butler’s 22 points and 12 assists, and Bam Adebayo’s 23 points and 9 rebounds.
Victor Oladipo also provided a spark off the bench with 19 points and six rebounds.

Tyrese Maxey continues to impress as he finished with 34 points on 12-of-22 shooting, but James Harden will need to elevate his game.
If Embiid plays in Game 3, he will need to display that MVP-level form from the regular season if Philly is going to have a shot at pulling a game back on the Heat.
