Dave Roberts has leaned on his bullpen a lot this postseason.
When Game 6 of the NLCS rolls around Saturday, the Dodgers manager may have to lean heavily on it again. That’s because Max Scherzer, Los Angeles’ scheduled Game 6 starter, won’t go because of arm fatigue and recent heavy usage on short rest.
MORE: Scherzer scratched from Game 6 start
It’s not yet known whether it will be another bullpen game for the Dodgers or if Roberts will go with Walker Buehler or Julio Urías on short rest.
Regardless, the Dodgers have an uphill battle ahead of them. They need to win two games on the road to advance to the World Series for the second straight year. They do, however, have momentum on their side, having won Game 5 handily thanks to three home runs from postseason hero Chris Taylor.
MORE: Meet Eddie Rosario, Braves’ key midseason acquistion
The Braves’ hero thus far in the postseason has been Eddie Rosario, who was acquired from Cleveland midseason. He’s 12 for 21 with two home runs and six RBIs in the NLCS and was integral to the Braves’ Game 4 win to take a 3-1 series lead.
Atlanta’s best starting pitching performance thus far has come from Charlie Morton, who threw five strong innings in Game 3. Ian Anderson will get the start for the Braves on Saturday as they look to finish off the Dodgers and advance to their first World Series since 1999. Anderson lasted just three innings in his first NLCS start and gave up two runs on three hits.
